Man who fell from tower in stable condition

OCALA -- A 44-year-old Hudson man who fell 56 feet from a television tower on Tuesday, is in stable condition on Wednesday at Shands at the University of Florida Hospital in Gainesville, according to police.

Stephen J. Jasztal was replacing some cable wire on the tower at Baxley Oil, 1904 N.E. Jacksonville Road when he fell and landed on an air conditioning unit.

Officers said Jasztal was conscious and talking with rescue workers before he was flown to Shands.

Officials said the injured man told them he wasn’t feeling well and was resting before making his way down when he fell.
