It was another night of extra blankets and likely record-setting lows across North Florida on Wednesday night.

While the low in Ocala early Wednesday of 28 degrees easily broke the previous record of 32, forecasters said this morning’s frosty weather likely will set another record.

Overnight Wednesday, freezing temperatures in Marion County were predicted to hit 29 degrees — eclipsing the record low of 32 degrees set on Nov. 20, 1968.

Jason Hess, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service said winds that kept frost from forming Tuesday likely weren’t as strong Wednesday night, which means that residents should expect to wake up this morning to more frost.

Lows should continue in the 30s throughout the week, with highs in the 60s, the Weather Service forecasted.

Temperatures were expected to be slightly warmer today but could still break lows in the low 30s set in Ocala.
